"Let’s be positive!"  Journey Continues Blog.  by A. O. Brown

“But he answered and said, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”  Matthew 4 v 4

con·no·ta·tion
noun
1.
  • an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning:
  • "the word “discipline” has unhappy connotations of punishment and repression"
Definition from Oxford Languages in Google.com.

I would like to take back current connotations of the word “positive.”  We are all on a journey in this lifetime.  Everyone’s situation and circumstances are unique.  Currently, many of us are sharing  similar challenges in and around the world in response to health crisis, climate change, political upheaval, unexpected bereavement and much more.

Yet, the Gospel of Christ declares Good News!

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.”
                                                                                                                                                     John 15:18 (NIV).

In the midst of every situation, the word of God declares we can overcome, we can press on, we can find a “rest” that supersedes all understanding.  We have a hope that is birthed out of the knowledge that we have everlasting life and we can choose to have it in Christ.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
                                                                                                                                                                Romans 8 v 37-39 (NIV)

Right now we have life and I pray that we live it abundantly in Christ.  We have a hope that stimulates a positive outlook on our life journey.  Let’s be positive in every life circumstance, however, not in our own strength, but through the sustaining power of the Holy Spirit and the promises of God that are here to give us hope.

Thank you for drawing our attention back to the usage of the word "positive" and not carried away by one of the prevailing culture usage for ex. when tested for sickness

I am so glad the perspective shared was appealing to you. The words we select to use in communication can affect us in our natural and spiritual lives. I encourage us all to stay as positive and God centered as we can.
